Iranian senior officials stated on the 17th that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, rejected proposals for “easing tensions or achieving peace” at a foreign affairs meeting, dismissing a proposal forwarded to the Iranian Foreign Ministry by two intermediary countries.

Iranian officials said that during the foreign affairs meeting, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that “now is not the time for peace,” and stated that the United States and Israel must be defeated and made to pay reparations.
