Central Bank Releases January 2026 Financial Market Operations
The People’s Bank of China released the January 2026 financial market operation report. In January 2026, net government bond financing was 97.639 billion yuan, an increase of 28.313 billion yuan year-on-year; net corporate bond financing was 50.326 billion yuan, up 5.79 billion yuan year-on-year. As of the end of January 2026, the bond market custodial balance was 197.7 trillion yuan. In January 2026, the trading volume of the government bond futures market was 6.9 trillion yuan, a 1.74% increase year-on-year. As of the end of January 2026, the open interest in government bond futures was 748,000 lots, up 36.3% year-on-year; the main contract of the 10-year government bond futures closed at 108.3 yuan, a 0.42% increase compared to the previous month. As of the end of January 2026, the Shanghai Gold Exchange Au (T+D) contract closed at 1,164 yuan per gram, up 19.5% month-on-month. In January 2026, gold trading on the Shanghai Gold Exchange totaled 5,970.2 tons, an 18.6% increase year-on-year; gold trading on the Shanghai Futures Exchange reached 18,000 tons, a 52.2% increase year-on-year.
