The chemical industry is ushering in a “dawn moment.” On March 13, the Guotai Chemical ETF (516220) surged over 2%.

Guotai Securities pointed out that the trend of rising prices for chemical products continues. Among the 336 products they track, 58% have seen price increases, with many prices rising significantly. Specifically, prices for subcategories such as chromium chemicals, TMP, polyurethane, amino acids, and dyes have increased. For example, TDI prices have risen due to limited overseas shipments and plant shutdowns, leading to tighter global supply. On the geopolitical front, tensions between the U.S. and Iran have escalated, disrupting oil supply and transportation in multiple countries, which has driven up oil prices. Industry-wise, chemicals, as a typical cyclical sector, is experiencing a phase of “profit growth—capacity expansion—profit bottoming out—capacity clearing/expectation of demand improvement.” With factors like negative capital expenditure growth, anti-inflation measures, and overseas interest rate cuts, the industry is entering a “dawn moment.” Meanwhile, ongoing global technological revolutions continue to accelerate, bringing new opportunities for material transformation.

The Guotai Chemical ETF (516220) tracks the Sub-chemical Industry Index (000813), which selects high-quality listed companies involved in fertilizer, pesticides, coatings, and other sub-sectors within China’s chemical industry. The index aims to reflect the overall performance of representative and competitive listed companies in the chemical sector.
