Marathon Petroleum has reaffirmed its commitment to maritime workforce development in Alaska with a new contribution to the Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC). This investment, totaling over $200,000 since 2018, supports scholarships and training programs, modernizing AVTEC’s facilities and expanding access to credentialing for students pursuing maritime careers. The funding has upgraded bridge simulators and instructional technology, provided oil-spill response training vessels, and offered direct scholarships to over 30 students, reducing financial barriers to their education.
