BMW's 2025 revenue and profit both decline; luxury brands generally face difficulties in China

[Caixin] In 2025, BMW Group achieved a revenue of €133.45 billion, a decrease of 6.3% year-on-year; pre-tax profit was €10.23 billion, down 6.7% year-on-year. On March 12th, local time, BMW Group released its 2025 financial report, disclosing these figures.

BMW Group’s main businesses include automobiles, motorcycles, and financial services, with the automotive segment being the main performance driver. In 2025, BMW’s automotive revenue declined by 5.9% year-on-year to €117.55 billion; pre-tax profit plummeted by 21.2% to €5.94 billion.

In 2025, BMW sold 2.463 million vehicles, a slight increase of 0.5% year-on-year. Market performance varied across different regions globally. BMW performed strongly in Europe and the United States, with sales increasing by 7.3% and 5% respectively. However, in its largest single market, China, BMW’s sales fell by 12.5% year-on-year to 626,000 units, the lowest since 2021.
