Wall Street Journal: Pentagon Considers Deploying Additional Naval Vessels to Escort Hormuz Strait

Odaily Planet Daily reports that, according to The Wall Street Journal, two U.S. officials stated that the Pentagon is considering deploying more warships to the Middle East to prepare for escorting oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. One official said that U.S. Central Command has requested additional destroyers and Marine ships to help protect commercial vessels attempting to transit the strait. U.S. officials stated that even if more ships are deployed, U.S. forces will not immediately begin escort operations; they must first reduce threats from Iran. This process could take a month or even longer.
