It has been 12 days since the United States and Israel launched a large-scale military operation against Iran. Although Iran and the U.S. are thousands of miles apart, recent reports from U.S. media and official agencies have repeatedly released “breaking news,” emphasizing the “Iran threat” on American soil, including potential targets such as the Oscars ceremony, possible drone attacks on the U.S. West Coast, “lone wolf” style attacks, and increased risks of undercover agents.

On March 11, local time, California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on social media that the state is monitoring all possible threats, including those related to the Middle East conflict. Newsom stated that no imminent danger has been identified, but California is prepared to respond to any emergency.

President Trump responded that the matter is under investigation, saying, “Various situations are happening now; we can only take one step at a time and respond accordingly.”

Oscar Ceremony Security Enhanced: Bomb Disposal Teams, Drones, Snipers Deployed

According to Xinhua News Agency, citing local U.S. TV stations, federal agencies and the Los Angeles police are deploying personnel at the venue of the Oscars, the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, to strengthen security.

Sources familiar with the matter revealed that, in addition to reinforced barriers and fences blocking the Hollywood Boulevard area where the Dolby Theatre is located, hundreds of Los Angeles police officers and federal law enforcement agents will be on security duty around the event. This includes establishing a one-mile (about 1.6 km) security perimeter, bomb disposal teams using detection equipment and sniffer dogs to inspect vehicles, SWAT teams monitoring drone threats, and snipers positioned on nearby high points.

Officials emphasized that there are currently no specific or credible threats related to the Oscars, but heightened vigilance remains necessary.

According to ABC News on the 11th, the FBI issued a warning at the end of February to police departments across California, stating that based on available intelligence, Iran had planned to launch drone attacks from an unidentified vessel outside the U.S. West Coast to target California. However, the FBI also noted that they do not have further information on the timing, specific targets, or perpetrators of potential attacks.

This warning was issued during a period of large-scale U.S. airstrikes against Iran. The Los Angeles FBI office declined to comment.

ABC quoted former Homeland Security official John Cohen, saying, “Iran has a widespread presence in Mexico and South America, with networks there and drones, and now they have the motivation to carry out attacks.” However, the FBI did not specify how or when vessels carrying Iranian drones might approach the U.S. mainland.

Major U.S. cities like Washington and Los Angeles are on high alert, with police on high alert

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security recently issued an internal alert warning that Middle East conflicts could trigger “lone wolf” attacks within the U.S. — major cities including Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles have increased patrols and security in key areas.

According to the Los Angeles Times, after the outbreak of hostilities, federal agencies detected mysterious encrypted radio broadcasts in Persian repeating “Attention, Attention,” leading to speculation that these broadcasts could be signals activating sleeper agents within the U.S.

It is reported that Los Angeles has a population of 700,000 Iranian immigrants, making it the largest Iranian community outside Iran. Authorities are concerned that individuals may carry out “lone wolf” attacks to avenge Iran. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement on the 11th, saying that police remain highly vigilant, increasing patrols at religious and cultural sites and other important locations, and urging residents to report suspicious activities.

The Department of Homeland Security warned that the U.S. is currently in a “heightened threat environment.” The notice pointed out that two Iranian religious leaders recently called on Muslims worldwide to seek revenge for the late Supreme Leader Khamenei. The FBI and NSA also warned that “cyber actors related to Iran may have recently launched attacks on U.S. systems and networks.”

Man Wearing Iran Flag-Themed Shirt Shoots Crowd in Texas, 3 Dead, 14 Injured

Around 6:30 a.m. on March 11, local time, a man drove a van into security barriers near the White House, causing some streets around the White House to be temporarily closed by police. No injuries were reported.

The driver has been detained and is being questioned. The investigation is ongoing. There is currently no evidence linking this incident to Iran.

Shortly after the U.S. and Israel launched attacks on Iran and Khamenei was killed, in early March, a shooting occurred in downtown Austin, Texas, resulting in 3 deaths and 14 injuries, including 3 in critical condition.

Austin Police Chief Lisa Dwyer stated that officers responded to a call early on the 1st about a “male shooting” at the Bufford Bar. When police arrived, they engaged in a gunfight with the suspect and ultimately shot him dead.

Investigators said the suspect had a history of mental illness. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a shirt with elements of the Iranian flag.

Federal officials in the area indicated that initial assessments suggest the suspect acted alone, and the motive remains under investigation.
