Credit Suisse Hong Kong Office Under Investigation
According to reports from both foreign and local media, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) recently raided at least two Chinese-funded investment banks’ Equity Capital Markets (ECM) departments in Hong Kong. The SFC has launched an investigation into the Hong Kong branch of CITIC Securities, involving some of the recent stock transactions handled by the bank. Meanwhile, Samuel Pan, the head of ECM at Guotai Junan International Hong Kong, was reportedly taken away by ICAC officers, suspected of assisting in the investigation.
