National autumn grain purchases exceed 300 million tons
Huang Sha
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 9 (Reporter Gu Yiping) The latest data released by the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration shows that, as of now, various grain trading entities across the country have purchased over 300 million tons of autumn grains, a relatively high level in recent years; the market prices for autumn grains are steadily rising, with a more prominent trend of high quality fetching higher prices.
Currently, the procurement of mid-to-late rice has basically concluded, and the procurement of corn and soybeans in Northeast and North China continues to advance. The peak season for autumn grain procurement has largely passed. By variety, the procurement of mid-to-late rice is 103 million tons, corn is 189 million tons, and soybeans are 12 million tons. In Heilongjiang, Henan, and Hunan provinces, the minimum purchase prices for mid-to-late rice totaled 4.18 million tons, a decrease of 2.92 million tons year-on-year. Autumn grain procurement is stable and orderly, with overall smooth circulation.
Luo Shouquan, Director of the Grain Reserves Department of the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration, stated that after the Spring Festival, the autumn grain procurement market continued its active trend from earlier periods. Various entities such as grain trading, processing, and reserve enterprises actively entered the market to purchase, with the prices of main varieties steadily rising, especially high-quality rice, corn, and high-protein soybeans, which have strong demand and high prices.
Next, the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration will adhere to the coordinated linkage of production, procurement, storage, sales, and added value, focusing on both grain procurement and inventory sales, promoting the improvement of varieties and quality, and maintaining grain prices at reasonable levels.
