Investing.com – Analysts from data analysis firm Kpler say that disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz are threatening the middle distillates market, especially the supply of jet fuel.

Analyst Loick Buisson from the provider stated that the volume of refined oil tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz has significantly decreased in both westbound and eastbound directions. He added that recent attacks on oil tankers have heightened security concerns and hindered transportation through this critical passage.

Buisson expects this situation to continue.

According to Kpler data, 45% of Europe’s jet fuel depends on the Middle East, compared to 25% for gas oil and diesel. Buisson noted that due to differences in regional standards, finding alternatives for jet fuel is more challenging.
