Hyundai Motor America Caps Year with Record Total Sales and December Momentum
Hyundai Motor America wrapped up the year with historic benchmarks, posting 901,686 units in total sales—marking the third consecutive annual record. The company’s retail sales reached 772,712 vehicles, cementing its fifth straight year of best-ever retail performance. This sustained success underscores the brand’s market resilience and product lineup strength heading into 2025.
Monthly Peak Driven by Hybrid Acceleration
December delivered a standout finish, with total sales reaching 78,930 units and registering a 1% year-over-year increase that represented the strongest December on record. The month’s momentum was fueled by electrified vehicles, which witnessed explosive growth across the portfolio. Hybrid sales surged 71% in December alone, setting an unprecedented monthly benchmark. Key contributors included the Elantra, Santa Fe, Sonata, Tucson, and Palisade HEV variants, which collectively powered this acceleration.
Core SUV Lineup Sustains Growth Trajectory
Hyundai’s flagship SUV trio—Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade—sustained robust expansion, with combined retail sales climbing 8% and total sales advancing 10% during the month. This performance reflects ongoing consumer preference for the brand’s crossover and utility segment offerings, positioning these models as critical revenue drivers.
Full-Year Electrification Strategy Bears Fruit
The annual electrified vehicle mix reached a significant milestone, accounting for 30% of Hyundai’s total retail sales. This shift was underpinned by hybrid sales jumping 36% year-over-year and electric vehicle sales rising 7%. Beyond the Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade, the IONIQ 5 electric model and compact Venue also established annual sales records, demonstrating broad-based strength across segments.
The consistent performance across both traditional and electrified categories reinforces Hyundai Motor America’s competitive positioning and validates its diversified product strategy.
