Does the Quantum Financial System really change the future of finance?
Quantum Financial System (QFS) is a concept that has been circulating on the internet for years. Advocates of this idea claim that it could challenge the dominance of SWIFT and eliminate corruption from banking systems. The problem is that to this day, no one has presented concrete, verifiable evidence of the actual existence or implementation of such a system.
What is behind the QFS idea?
In theory, QFS would operate based on advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing, handling all financial transactions without the need for current standards such as SWIFT. It sounds futuristic, but full implementation of such a solution likely exceeds current capabilities and the willingness of financial institutions and governments.
Where will QFS be found? Nowhere (for now)
There is no implementation schedule for the Quantum Financial System. It is also difficult to determine whether any public or private institution is actually working on practical applications of QFS. It is more of a concept than a ready-to-use technology.
However, something that is actually happening is work on central digital currencies (CBDC). According to the CBDC Tracker, most countries in the world are experimenting with central bank digital currencies to some extent. This is more realistic and tangible.
Reality: a puzzle made of many pieces
Financial institutions are not waiting for the magical QFS. Instead, they are developing individual components of this system independently. Banks are investing in:
What benefits does the integration of quantum technologies bring?
Even if the Quantum Financial System never sees the light of day in its proposed form, the very integration of quantum technologies into finance offers real benefits:
The future of finance: whose scenario?
The financial industry stands at a crossroads. Traditional institutions face challenges from technological advances. In the coming years, a new financial system model may emerge—potentially built around cryptocurrencies and decentralized technologies, rather than around Quantum Financial System, which remains more of a myth than a reality.
The reality is less dramatic but more concrete: evolution, not revolution.
