CoinVoice has learned that, according to Cointelegraph, Aave founder Stani Kulechov was recently questioned for purchasing $10 million worth of AAVE tokens. Some members of the crypto community believe this move was to increase his voting power in a key governance proposal.

DeFi strategist and liquidity expert Robert Mullins stated that the purpose of this purchase was to enhance Kulechov’s voting rights in order to support a proposal in the upcoming vote that could directly harm the best interests of token holders. He added, “This is a clear example showing that the token mechanism is not sufficiently designed to effectively prevent governance attacks.”

Well-known crypto KOL Sisyphus also expressed similar concerns, suggesting that Kulechov may have sold several million dollars worth of AAVE tokens between 2021 and 2025, and questioned the economic motivation behind his recent buyback.

As this controversy unfolds, Aave token holders are discussing how governance rights for this DeFi protocol should be exercised. Critics point out that large token purchases could materially influence voting outcomes on high-risk governance proposals.
