The end of the billion Dollar treasure hunt.
James Howells, a 39-year-old British IT engineer, decided to end his 12-year pursuit of a hard drive buried in a landfill in Newport, which contains 8,000 Bitcoins valued at approximately 920 million Dollar.
Where these currencies were mined in 2009 when the value of Bitcoin was no more than a few pence, but it was accidentally thrown by the engine in 2013.
And Huels fought fiercely: he filed a lawsuit against the Newport City Council for drilling rights, offered to share millions of the recovered value, and even planned to buy the landfill itself for high-precision technical excavation using smart drones (AI) and expert teams. But the council rejected his requests based on environmental protection laws, and the court later ruled that the drive was the property of the council.
And now, with the site converted into a solar power farm, the dream has come to an end.
