Overview of Gate P2P Shield Merchant Service

To further enhance the security of P2P trading and strengthen platform credibility, Gate has introduced a Shield Merchant Program in the CNY fiat trading zone. Shield Merchants are required to make a security deposit and pass strict qualifications, risk control reviews, and service evaluations. Certified merchants enjoy exclusive benefits and brand endorsement. In cases where compensation is triggered due to judicial freezes, the platform and the merchant will jointly cover the loss, better protecting users and creating a more trustworthy trading environment.

How to Become a Gate P2P Shield Merchant?

  1. Deposit Requirement
  • Pay a 15,000 USDT security deposit.
  1. Trading & Qualification Requirements

P2P Shield Compensation Rules

For eligible orders, the joint compensation mechanism will be triggered as follows:

  • Compensation ratio: 20% of the order amount
  • Maximum compensation per order: 2,000 USDT
  • Merchant and platform each cover 50% of the compensation

If merchants fail to pay their 50% on time, funds will first be deducted from their spot account balance. If insufficient, deductions will come from the security deposit. If the deposit is also insufficient, the platform will advance required payments to cover pending claims. Merchants must then replenish the deposit within 14 days to maintain their status and protect credibility.

For full details on compensation scenarios and exclusions, see the Shield Service Guidelines.

Q&A

Q1: What extra obligations come with being a Shield Merchant? A: In addition to daily compliance, Shield Merchants must place a 15,000 USDT security deposit and cover 50% of compensation whenever the platform determines a payout is required. If you fail to do so, the platform will deduct from your deposit and you must replenish security deposit within 14 days. Failing to do so will result in your ad privileges suspended or your Shield status revoked.

Q2: If a user's account is frozen, but not because of my payment, do I still need to compensate? A: No. The platform will verify the cause of the freeze. If it's confirmed to be unrelated to the merchant (for example, due to the user's own violations), the compensation mechanism will not be triggered. However, merchants are required to actively cooperate by providing payment proofs, transaction records, and other materials to help the platform complete its review as quickly as possible.

Q3: What happens if I have cash flow issues and fail to repay the platform's advanced compensation within the required time? A:The platform will deduct funds in the following order:

  1. First, from your spot account balance;
  2. If insufficient, the amount will be taken directly from your security deposit;
  3. If the deposit still falls short, your advertising privileges will be suspended until the deposit is restored to 15,000 USDT;
  4. If you fail to replenish the security deposit within the specified time (14 days), you will lose your Shield Merchant status, and you will be restricted from reapplying for a certain period.

Q4: How can I reduce the risk of triggering compensation? A: We recommend that you:

  1. Always use payment accounts that match your verified identity;
  2. Avoid accepting funds from abnormal or suspicious sources;
  3. Keep transaction records and payment receipts for verification if needed;
  4. Comply with local laws, regulations, and the platform's risk control requirements.

Q5: Can a merchant dispute the platform's decision on compensation responsibility? A: Yes. If you believe the platform's initial judgment is incorrect, you may submit relevant evidence (such as payment records or account proof) within 3 business days, and the platform will review it and provide a final decision.

Special Notes

  • The Shield Merchant program applies only to the CNY fiat trading zone in Gate P2P, not to other fiat zones or business areas;
  • The platform is not responsible for the freezing actions of judicial authorities; compensation is limited to cases that meet the conditions defined by this mechanism;
  • By participating in this program, merchants are deemed to have read and agreed to comply with the relevant rules and responsibilities;
  • Gate reserves the right to modify, adjust, or cancel the Shield Merchant mechanism as needed and retains the final interpretation rights regarding the mechanism, compensation rules, applicable conditions, and eligibility criteria.
